Wondering about the feeding history of Olympic athletes reminded me:
Over the course of human history, this world has seen cultures in which a
majority of children were breastfed for 6 months with breastfeeding
continuing for several years (going w-a-y back in history to get 6 months of
*exclusive* bfing). And it's seen cultures with really good medical care
and nutrition for the majority. But it's never, ever, anywhere, seen both
at the same time. As I understand it (Rachel?), even the Scandinavian
countries, while long on initiation, are short on exclusivity and duration.
What country do we think will be first? And think what the health of that
country will be!
