Some advice Please?
I provided a home visit yesterday to a 3-4 day postpartum Mom of a 35wkr.,
3rd child who was diagnosed after the birth of her second child, now 3yrs old
with Lupus. She had been on plaquenil and prednisone up until the time of her
pregnancy and continues on prednisone , isn't currently on plaquenil but her
rhematologist would like to restart within a few weeks and sooner if a
flareup. No signs of a flareup at this point, and Mom is torn about the
breastfeeding. She is very engorged, has made some attempts at breast but has
been unsuccessful in the immediate sense d/t engorgement but would like to
try. She has been advised to stop brfdng once the plaquenil resumes and I
have searched Lactnet but there is little posted about use of plaquenil with
brfdng and, in fact, little posted on lupus at all over the last year or so.
What is the lastest wisdom? How likely is it that the prolactin will
exacerbate the lupus? I had offered to email her with pertinent posts but
haven't found much that is suitable.
