Natalie,
It's interesting that initial motivation to breastfeed may not be
anything like what we want to teach at classes about its wonderful
advantages! In my case, being the younger of two sisters led me to the
career I have today. She is 9 years older than me, so whatever I
experienced growing up, she had already experienced. When she had her
first, she tried nursing, but with all the misadvice so common then, she
only tried for about a week. Then she never attempted with her other
2. Therefore, this was finally something I could succeed at that she
had not already done. In the early weeks with my first, whenever I
would question whether to continue, that motivation kept me going! Then
I doscovered LLL while expecing my second and you know how the story
goes after that. So I guess I owe my career as an LC to my sister's
"failure" at breastfeeding.
Winnie
