Aaah, if it wasn't for Demerol I might not have become an LLL Leader!
First baby:
Demerol during labor at 5 cm = lethargic baby +5 days in the hospital where
they wouldn't wake him up unless 5 hours had gone by + little help = severe
engorgement, with no latching on one breast
- 11pm phone call to my local LLL gave me all the info I needed and by the
next day we were a breastfeeding couple! And boy, was I grateful to LLL and
committed to the organization!
Hale's "Medications and Mothers Milk" is blunt about Demerol not being the
analgesic of choice!
