Dear Friends;
Barbara Latterner wrote about her consortium approaching the American
Cancer Society in an attempt to include breastfeeding as a protective health
behavior against breast cancer. I personally did this about 15 years ago;
seems like nothing has changed with them. What do they want? There are reams
of studies from all over the world; breastfeeding does have an impact on
premenopausal breast cancer, and there are findings showing a protective
effect against postmenopausal as well.
Good luck with the diabetes promotion. I heard from a woman on a task
force in the state where our Sec'y of HHS comes from. Mr. Thompson and his
cronies rejected 18 different attempts to include breastfeeding as a
protective measure against diabetes.
Warmly,
