I want to add my voice to this topic, b/c it is so important. As far as I have seen, most ped's are not skilled in infant feeding assessments. Almost every single one in my area misses tongue-tie, which is often quite obvious. If they can miss this, they are certainly not going to be able to assess the myriad of other problems caused by birth trauma. But, in my experience, a chiropractor can almost always make a valid assessment and, better yet, correct the problem. I personally think we cannot be bf advocates and w/hold our voices in speaking against medicalized birth. That is like being a dentist who never talks about sugar and dental floss. But, while medicalized birth is still the norm in North America, I think every LC should find a good chiropractor in her/his area. And a CST practitioner, OT, PT and massage therapist would be good to know as well.
