Marilyn:

  I would try calendula on her nipples/areolas for healing.

  Try to place the baby on top of mom and see if that a) brings the tongue
forward and is more comfortable ... this is basically a stop gap.

   check for tongue tie and make sure the tongue can comf forward...

   i would also try some light finger strokes from medial to proximal on the
face prior to feeding to see if you can release some of the tension that is
there...
