Children do not 'outgrow' a channel palate. They have it all their lives.
I have a 16 year old son and a 48 year old sister with channel palates.
When the child gets older, he can have an orthodontic device installed that
will widen the tooth rows so that the upper arch lines up better with the
lower arch, for better chewing of solids. They work some, not great.
