What I do (and from the fact that I often get both personal copies and
the response in LN, I suspect many others do also) is to always reply
both to the individual writer and in most cases copy the response to
LN.  In addition to making the list richer, this serves two other
purposes - the wirter is sure to get the reply even if they aren't
currently getting the LN posts - secondly, when I get responses, if I
want to save them it is easier to do with an individual response than to
have to isolate it from the entire digest before saving.
