Wise one I need your help - I have a client who breastfed happily for 3
months, then called me because of a very painful R breast. The onset was
quite sudden. I found all segments of the breast to be lumpy/engorged; baby
wouldn't latch on that side and there was no milk flow. I referred her to a
physiotherapist who managed to elicit milk flow after ultrasound treatment.
Her breast felt slightly bruised. Ultrasound was repeated the next day and
breastfeeding resumed. It's now 6 weeks later and this mother is
despairing. She has had repeated plugged ducts - at least once a week in
that breast - she has made sure her bra/clothing is not too tight, she is
taking lecithin..... and is ready to give up. TIA.
