Chris,
Others may know better than I but I pretty sure that her employer may NOT
count her "maternity" leave as counting towards the Family Leave Act time.
This is because it is not actually maternity leave but DISABILITY and EVERY
employer must give a mother that 6 weeks of disability. The three months
from the Family Leave Act is different and available to ANYONE who needs it.
I am hazy on this but I also think that an employee is entitled to two 15
minute breaks and 1/2 hour lunch for every 8 hours worked. Perhaps this
varies by state or depends if the employee is salaried or is punching a
clock. Or maybe that is why they make the day 7.5 hours long....
Man! Why do some employers make is to hard for new mothers???
