Hello wise ones,
<with permission to post>
I am working by phone with a repeat client now nursing her second child. Baby boy is 2 weeks old and mom is tandem nursing a 22 month old. Baby is having lots of yellow BM's, but is struggling at the breast. MER is very forceful, even when nursing baby on a breast toddler has just emptied.
Baby's displeasure was audible over the phone as I heard him whimpering and fussing.
Mom had no trouble nursing first except for a round of thrush and some plugged ducts. She is dedicated to nursing both and nurses each on demand day and night.
We have used all the suggestions in the Breastfeeding Answerbook to no avail.
Baby does not tolerate dancer's hand assistance or the football hold as both worsen his distress.
I need more experienced suggestions for this mom as the only thing I have left to offer is a tincture of time.
Thank you in advance,
Debbie Grant
