I'd like to second Chris Mulford and Pat Gima's posts on flexibility and
individualization of care as a necessary part of LC practice. Compiling
a "cook-book" and always using the same techniques inflexibly in each
situation does our clients a disservice. Not that we don't each have
our favorite tricks and try them first, that's human nature; but we
should have enough different tricks in our bag, and good enough
observation skills to take an educated guess at what might work for each
individual dyad, and then notice if it does work, and switch gears if it
doesn't.
Can you tell this is one of my pet peeves?
