One of my moms was told to wean to soy formula because of blood in stool
(stool was tested ). The baby had been having green stools and was gassy.
The doctor was concerned. Since the mom really wanted to nurse (had nursed
another baby) and the baby didn't take the formula, she called LLL. We
decided to work on managing the fore/hind milk problem. Switching breasts
every four hours seemed to clear up the gas, green poops and the blood. The
doctor tested the stools again and was unable to comment on why the baby had
suddenly lost the allergy to the mothers milk.
