I still have not set up my business again, but in the past when a mom called
for a pump, I always asked questions about her needs.  I would only rent
pumps to moms who were referred to me and were being followed by an LC.  I
would not sell a pump to a mom if I felt she didn't need one.  Yes, she could
get it elsewhere, but hopefully our conversation would give her some food for
thought.  When I showed the moms how to work the pumps, I always spent time
on breastfeeding and giving info, so as not to hurt the breastfeeding with
the pumping.
