I was refused my one year maternity leave because I was related to the owners of the business I worked for. My husbands parents own the business. I paid all the required premiums, and was never notified that I would not be eligible. I fought long, and hard to earn those benifits back, which I am proud to say I did. I will not be returning to work until every second of that one year is used up, and the longer I am home with my kids, the more I would like to stay home for good. Unfortunately once my benefits run out, financial reasons will force me back to work, unless we win the lottery. I am a firm believer that children should be raised by their parents, but this is not always possible.
Luckily breastfeeding will NOT be compromised when I return to work as it is a family business and I'll be able to take the time to do what I need to do to keep that going.

(wishing Materninty leave was 5 years in Canada, and still buying lottery tickets:))
