Teresa, your grandson's journey is very wonderful in its end. I am glad he
is home and happily breastfeeding and thriving.
I am very disheartened and disturbed, however, at the story you told. I
think that it is time for professionals to realize that they are at risk
for malpractice suits if they continue to practice against currently
recognized evidence with regard to breastfeeding. This is disgraceful. I am
astounded and sickened to read it. I think that a letter should be written
in very strong language, and that you should include a copy of your
breastfeeding book that you co authored with Jack Newman MD, on
Breastfeeding. What is so hard for people to GET about this?
Where has that nurse been who said that preemies don't always do better
with breastfeeding? WHY DO SOME PROFESSIONALS PRACTICE USING THEIR OWN
EXPERIENCE AS THE RULE/FILTER? WHY ARE WE ALLOWING THIS? WHERE ARE THE
ETHICS COMMITTEES?
Yes, I AM SHOUTING!
