Hi,
A mother contacted me yesterday, She has recently returned from Africa and
has been diagnosed with TB. She was going in to hospital yesterday to begin
treatment. She has an 8mnth old baby who is not taking solids. (she offers,
but he's not interested.) Her doctor told her to wean immediately, before
treatment. I have searched the archives (but much of the into seems
contradictory to me.) I have checked with a well respected local drug
information centre, and the meds she will be on are OK to continue feeding.
Her physician has arranged for her baby to room in with her in our local
baby friendly hospital, so the issue must not be that she should be isolated
from the baby. (which many posts in the archives suggest) The mother was
extremely stressed and emotional when she spoke to me, as this has been very
sudden. Does anyone have any experience or wisdom to share with us?
