Dear Friends:
Ann Nans describes a doubting Thomas, in this case a pediatric resident.
What sort of training program is that resident in to doubt breastfeeding?
What a jerk! And how patient and polite Ann must be not to throw up on him.
Suggest the PROBIT study. I can't find the citation right now. However
babies in Belarus were randomly assigned to either a Baby Friendly style
management in the hospital, or usual hospital treatment. This is a
prospective study, which should satisfy him. It is also quite recent.
More women breastfed in the Baby-Friendly style group and their babies
were healthier.
Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI
