And another option would be for the mom of the four month old to ask her
Pediatrician what they use for the baby if the baby has a cold and a stuffy
nose. I know that there are a zillion cold medications marketed for infants
and children.
Not that I recommend these for infants. Good old nasal drops or nasal nose
spray often works well, combined with lots of fluid, rest, and hot showers
so that nasal junk can be blown out.
I think this is the appropriate use of the phrase, "Sacrificing
breastfeeding on the altar of ignorance," a la Jack Newman MD.
Hope the mom feels better soon, and learns something in the meantime about
taking advice that is so ...well,....you know what I mean.
