I, too, put pumps outside to air out when they have a smoky smell. Sometimes
they may have to stay out there for a week or more! Because I am in the deep
South, I wrap them first with several layers of cheesecloth to keep out bugs.
I have experimented with alcohol, Lysol, Windex, Febreze, and other cleaners
and disinfecting liquids and sprays. Nothing works better than being outside
for a while.
