<Sorry its so long>

Catherine-I was DELIGHTED it was so long! It sounds as if there is much
more to be learned.

I wonder if someone someday will study and compare the courses of a large
# of babies in NICU, some of whom receive pure human milk at as many
feedings as possible, and a control group who are given what seems to be
the current standard-mixing of human milk with cows milk fortifier.

I used that phrase deliberately because it seems to me that using the
name "Human Milk Fortifier" ought to be considered a transgression of the
truth-in-advertising philosophy.

That name very cleverly misleads parents and even some HCP's who assume
that it is actually MADE FROM HUMAN MILK rather than being a product made
from cow's milk for the purpose of fortifying premature human milk,
because of its difference from mature human milk and the difference
between the premature infant and the healthy term infant.

Thank you for enlightening me. It will take me a long time to "digest"
that!

Jean
