Dear Jane, there are several separate issues here.
1. BF does not cause hypothyroidism. "Postpartum thyroid dysfunction is a
quite common event, occurring in some 17% of women. The disease is usually
transient, lasting one to four months, and is most likely to occur in the
first 8 months postpartum." R & A
2. weaning won't fix the problem
3. sacrificing BF on the altar of stupidity only puts baby at risk for
health problems.
4. Take the medicine - it is simply a replacement for what the body
naturally makes. Have another blood test in a few months to see if any more
adjustments need to be made in dose.
5. find a new dr!
Maybe I'd better go back to bed a while, seem to have gotten out on the
wrong side :-) Pat in SNJ
