OH, Please come to my rescue.
38 year old mother, two days post partum with 3rd child. Has 8 & 4 yr old,
breastfed last one for two years. Had routine bone density test during this
pregnancy and it showed "osteopenia" a (milder form of osterperosis). The
specialist told her she should not BF for longer than 6 months??
Is this true? Does breastfeeding cause bone demineralization?
She was told to take mega doses of vit. D. How will that effect her
breastmilk? My book is limited, I want more.
She hates the thought of giving up breastfeeding at 6 months. All I could
think of at the time was that at 6 months solids are introduced and the milk
need was decreased somewhat, and that at TWO , she understood it was just
occasionally, and not taxing her body!
