I, for one, as a lactating mom, wish they'd put more thought into the
dietary offerings for recovering moms (breastfeeding or not). I remember
each postpartum stay as "starving" on the meals provided. A sandwich on
gummy white bread? Green jello for dessert? The patient kitchen on the unit
just had bread for toast, nothing else. Thank goodness I had brought along
puddings and fruit. I was very disappointed in the nutrition and quantity
provided. So although lactating moms don't need a special diet, I do recall
being VERY hungry and needing more and better food than it seemed they were
offering the average sick person!
