To follow-up my recent post questioning how a research project is
approved -- Riordan & Auerbach, p. 756, has a brief discussion on how
various medical organizations, institutions and  government agencies set
up ethical guidelines and ethical review boards, and researchers are
bound by the board's recommendations.
