Since I've been asked a couple of times, I had better explain... Po-mo
culture is short form for post-modern culture. Don't ask me to explain
*that* because I have never been able to make sense of it, and neither
have the people who write about it, IMHO, but I was referring to the
tendency to consider that the position each person speaks from completely
determines his version of reality, that there are many versions and all
are equally valid, that authority has woefully failed us and we cannot
look to anyone or anything outside ourselves for answers, that knowledge
is entirely a social and cultural construction, and that, in this case,
each choice is just as right as any other one. My background in literary
criticism got the worst of me.
