Hi,
As Jean Cotterman mentioned I have experience with "Nipple Pullers". I had a Mom who just had slits - no nipple to be seen - a previous mother had told me about the nipple puller (by your pupils you'll be taught!) - I had bought one to try it out on myself so I suggested it to the Mom - put the nipple puller on and out popped the nipple - latched the baby and after the nursing the nipple popped back - it worked for this mom and at 10 months she was still nursing. Some mothers might find it easier to use than a syringe and the suction it exerts is not high and on the occasions I have used it there have been no cracked nipples. One has be be meticulous with its cleaning.
Sincerely,
Barbie Currie RN RM IBCLC Nelspruit, South Africa.
