This technique was named, described in print and popularized by Sarah
Danner, CNM, CPNP and Edward Cerutti, MD in the early 1980's.
The name comes from Sarah and Ed's names: Dan + Cer = Dancer Hand Position.
It has nothing to do with dancing.
As Virginia Thorley pointed out, it's not a new technique. And it's a
wonderful help for selected babies!
