Just talked to the mom whose nipples have been raw for 2
months.  She is on Keflex (cephalexin) for mastitis after
discovering a lump in her breast and having flu-like
symptoms.  (She had quit using the APNO because it was
starting to sting.)  She said she is feeling better, the
lump is resolving, and her milk supply has increased since
starting the antibiotic.  Her baby now weighs 12 pounds, and
her pediatrician is happy.  He is nursing less often amd
seems to be getting more at each feeding.  She has decreased
her dose of the galactagogues as she was beginning to
experience side effects.  She takes them in the evening
since that seems to be when her supply is the lowest.  She
pumps in the evening and gives pumped milk and then
formula.  Baby takes 2-3 oz.  She liked the idea of pumping
in the morning, as Diane Wiessenger suggested.  She says the
raw areas on her nipples are filling in.  She sounded very
upbeat when I talked to her.
