Dear Peg
If this mother is quadriplegic, she has probably loss all motor and sensory
functions and the level of the injury and below. With injury at C5/C6, the
neurological impulse of succion cannot reach the pituitary gland, and there
is no hormonal secrétion in response. For nipple stimulation inducing a good
production of milk, the injury must be below D6. So this women would
probably never have a good milk supply.
