Heather responded:
<<Oh.....but this is an echo of what formula feeding mothers say, and I
believe it does *not* come from bf supporters or professionals, in
the main. Much of it comes from inside the mother.>

How insightful, Heather.

I can really identify with that last statement. We adopted our sixth
child, at the age of one month, 30 years ago, when I was still nursing
her 2.5 year old sister. Not much was known then, compared to now, about
adoptive nursing, relactation, or building milk supply.

After several one-week long attempts, that were upsetting to her because
of what I didn't know NOT to do, I came to the conclusion these attempts
were not beneficial to our long-term mother child relationship.

Because of what was going on inside of me, I avoided my very dear LLL
friends for 8 whole months because I didn't want to hear any
encouragement after I had made my firm decision to feed formula.

I did bottlefeed her in a much more "breastfeeding"
manner than I had my first 3, whom I had stopped with at 5-10 days.

All the same, I would like to develop more and better ways to approach
such a mother, and all the mothers I contact, with the "breastfeeding
process" benefits.

I would like to hear more about how others weave this in. Diane, do you
have any new info sheets in the works? Or do you see this situation as a
good use for your sheet "Better Than Breastfeeding"?
