Does anyone have any good guidelines for hand expression? I feel this is
something I should touch on in my breastfeeding classes. I teach
breastfeeding classes through a civilian hospital (hi, Debra Tobin) and
through the Navy Reserves. I believe that with the risk of terrorism,
especially in the D.C. area where I live, that it would be a good idea for
breastfeeding women to know how to hand express. The majority of the women
I teach plan to go back to work. If roads are closed or traffic is stopped
(some people were stuck in DC traffic for 6+ hours after the Pentagon was
hit), and women don't have a hand pump or cigarette lighter adapter for
their pump, I'm worried about engorgement.
Maybe their is something already in print. Please email me privately if
more appropriate.
