In response to Karen's request for easy-to-access materials on extended
nursing -- have you tried the LLLI website?
http://www.lalecheleague.org/
If you click the "Breastfeeding Information" box, you get links for
FAQ's, which include a section of several pieces on "Nursing the Older
Baby." There are also FAQ topics such as "Special Circumstances" and
"Weaning" and "Nighttime Parenting," which might have some pertinent
pieces.
The Information box also links to articles from New Beginnings (the
member magazine) grouped by topic -- there are 42 articles on older
nurslings.
The site is a great resource to refer mothers to if they want
information on specific topics, such as allergies, work issues, sleep
issues, etc. -- you might want to mention it to the meeting
participants. Articles from Leaven, the Leaders' magazine, are also
available there for some fairly in-depth treatment of a variety of
topics, which might be useful in your Peer Counseling work.
Good luck, Karen, on your multi-tasking. I feel like I should also
suggest some kids' party games!
