I am very frustrated this week - Medicaid coverage has become a big
confusion. We are located in Indiana. First they said rental pumps were
covered - now they say no. Then they said purchase electric pumps were
covered. Now they say only manual pumps are covered - do they really think
that a manual breastpump for a mother who has a premature infant in the NICU
is sufficient?
Then there is the whole issue of lactation consultations which they say are
not covered either.
I am looking for information from other states - what exists there -
anything you know about how you got the coverage you have - and what I can
do to change this issue in our state. Many like to sit back and accept it
but I for one feel that I need to do something to assist the mothers who
need these services.
Thank you so much for your assistance.
