Okay, I love when researchers try to evaluate breastfeeding with no clue
about how it works. I heard a report about a study conducted by Kramer (I am
not sure that I am spelling this correctly). Anyhow.. He studied nursing
moms who breastfed only and nursing moms who breastfed and used a pacifier
for up to 3 months post-partum. Interesting results.. He determined that
pacifiers did NOT effect breastfeeding frequency, and then he also determined
that mother's who used the pacifier were more likely to wean earlier. Could
it possibly be because of reduced milk supply due to LESS FREQUENT or WEAKER
nursing! Or perhaps it is the pain? Sometimes you just have to laugh or
cry! Does anyone out there have an actual copy of the study? -- Debbie
