I think people like to think their parents did the best for them, and that
they did the best for their children. So breastfeeding will be a very
heated subject until we have about 2 generations of everyone being
breastfed. My first daughter had alot of ear infections and tubes 3-4x,
but in all honesty they didn't start until I had weaned her, my second has
poor eyesight and alot of allergies but she only nursed 10 weeks, my 4th
child has eczema which in all honesty didn't start until after 6 months
when I started solids. So like Kathy said, the implications of formula
will never be known until somehow they can have the same child live their
life twice, once with formula and once with breastmilk, and that will never
happen. So I tell parents who share their guilt with me that "We do the
best we can with the information and the capabilities we have at the
time". For me it's ok that I was formula fed, my mom didn't know any
better, but I chose better for my children. Barb
