Like Winnie, I also discontinued my membership to AWHONN several years ago
because of their relationship with the formula companies, and I told them
why. If the IBCLCs who are also RNs were to do the same, I think it could be
very effective. There are a lot of us here on LACTNET. I believe that their
relationship with the "bad guys" is based on the $$$ they receive, not on
hostility toward breastfeeding itself. If a large number of their members
withdraw their financial support, the message may get through to management.
Then again, maybe not. We know that donated $$$ is substantial.
