Most people working on brothel sites have historical information tying the
property to that use. There was a symposium on the topic at one of the SHA
Conferences several years ago. The artifact correlates would not lead you to
believe it was a brothel unless you knew from historical evidence, at least
that was my read on the papers. Several yielded high quantities of champagne
and wine bottle glass and others reported perfume bottles, oyster shell,
bones from nice meat cuts, and shot glasses.... all the trappings for getting
the marks loose and then getting them processed.
