The post from Rachel Myr on strong-smelling gas from
an infant and maternal use of aspartame got my wheels
turning.
Did a 'net search on aspartame a year or so ago; VERY
little real, useful information out there, but what I
found was scary:
The gentleman who did most of the research on
aspartame, prior to its approval by the FDA, added
reasonable amounts to the diets of baby rats, and all
but one of the rats developed fatal tumors of the
brain and other neurological tissues. His study was
never completed, however, due to his death in a tragic
and somewhat mysterious car accident. The FDA
approved aspartame with almost unprecidented speed,
and the marketing campaign was aggressive.
I'll stick to sugar!
Carole
