Exactly. Even among bf'ing-friendly folks, there is sometimes the oddest reaction to LLL. I have been on reserve for 3 years, so am not speaking as someone trying to "get moms to meetings" in that sense. I am speaking as an LC who has clients who really need mother-to-mother support. In my community that means LLL. In the past, a reasonable number of my clients would have responded favorably to such a suggestion. Today, that is just not the case. It isn't even necessarily a negative impression of LLL; it is just that so many moms seem to have a very different perception of what bf means to them--it is by-and-large a feeding method. Sometimes that changes with time, of course, but the underlying reasons to nurse have changed in this community. Most mothers used to say that they wanted to nurse b/c "it's better for the baby" and "the bonding". I just don't hear much about "bonding" anymore. It's a food that is the next better thing than cow formula. I sometimes ask myself if in!
our search for the next "eviden
ce-based" thing, we have forgotten about the rest of the nursing relationship.
