From personal experience.
Our two youngest children have never incurred more that the standard
insurance deductible for doctor visits (originally $5, now $10). They have
never had prescription meds. OTOH, my husband had testicular cancer in
1997. Surgery, radiation therapy, and visits to three doctors (urologist,
oncologist and radiation oncologist) in just 6 months topped $50,000. He
still sees all three doctors 2x/year and has 2 CAT scans/year.
Breastfeeding is darned cheap compared to him.
