I heard of one case of this -- mom who would not/could not touch her own
breasts, so it was difficult to get baby positioned at breast. A very
perceptive and experienced LLLL/IBCLC (not me!) helped her by suggesting she
use a washcloth to cover her hand. The mother was able to 'touch' her
breast through the washcloth, even though she couldn't handle the
skin-to-skin directly.
So, sometimes a simple solution works (in terms of breastfeeding success),
rather than having to delve into the source of the problem.
