As regards the talk at the conference (which I unfortunately could not
attend) R/T weight loss in newborns of not more than 6 % - I would love to
have the data. Is there a way to contact this person who gave the talk?
I am very interested because in our facility with so many inductions, we see
weight loss in babies of 7 & 8% within 24 hours. These are babies who have
nursed once or twice in that time, but are very sleepy. We have these mothers
kangaroo care, but these babies are busy pooping and peeing up a storm and
not very interested in eating as yet. By day three , while nursing better and
usually with milk beginning, these babies have all lost 10% or more. Everyone
panics and they are often supplemented, even though the LCs have assessed the
feeding and feel everything is going well and milk beginning. Which is right?
The talk at your conference about weight loss & how it can't be more than 6%
or assessing the feeding and monitoring all criteria?
