I often approach my fellow physicians with the "new information" card. No
matter how basic the information, I will usually present it with the
implication that it was a recent discovery. ("You know, I have seen people
treat mastitis with Amox, but I was just reviewing an article that showed a
much higher resolution with better staph coverage, for instance with Diclox
or Augmentin. I could send you a copy if you'd like.") Granted, it can be a
little misleading, but I think most people receive information better, and
are more willing to change their practices, if they don't feel defensive when
you're educating them.

students around here- )
