I work in an inner-city hospital with a minority and low income
population. Sad to say, we see more than our share of babies in
Pediatrics because of improper feeding techniques (such as over dilution
or infrequent feedings) or allergic reactions, asthma, GI upsets, and on
and on. If the baby is under six weeks, the pediatrician will often
order that I see the mom. Sometimes it is fruitful, sometimes not. In my
opinion, the damage from these situations is pretty severe and any
breast milk we can get will help. This is the type of "expose" we need
to see rather than all the slander against breastfeeding that is always
published. And that TV show....gag me. Who is the producer or production
company that came up with that!!! Annette, let us know, they really need
some accurate information.
