Aloha,
I was hoping for your thoughts on a metabolic extract a mom is taking. Her
baby is 6 months and well onto solids. Mom works as a professional trainer 3
days a week. She has been taking a metabolic extract and pumping and
dumping. She thought she needed to pump and dump to get the extract out of
her milk. I explained how that was not necessary and she only need pump if
she normally would be pumping at work. I suggested saving the pumped milk
and keeping it separate from the other milk she has already stored until we
could get more info.
She is taking the extract once a day/3 days a week. She takes it at 11am.
Baby won't be nursing until about 4 pm when mom gets home. Mom says she
needs the energy the extract supplies for her job. The ingredients: MaHuang
extract 334mg (this is ephedra---isn't it---I cautioned mom on the use of it
for herself---she said she used it for 2 years prior to becoming pregnant
with no problems) Guarana extract 910 mg, L-Carnitine 100mg and Chromium
200mcg.
I am thinking that by the time she gets home, there should be no problem with
nursing, but what about the milk she pumps at work? Okay to use or dump it?
Sounds like baby would be fine on solids while mom is away.
Appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks
Aloha,
