I have a little campaign "back to sleep, front to play" that I have been
pushing for a few years. I turn baby on his/her tummy (to parents horror!
) and watch to see baby raise his/her head. I point out shoulder and neck
muscles to parents and explain why they need exercise. Then I say if baby
falls asleep while playing on tummy just turn them over for the nap and
show them how to turn baby over. I know this sounds simplistic and you
wouldn't think parents need to be taught, but so many parents now have an
utter fear of ever putting baby on tummy! Remember the campaign is Back TO
SLEEP, not back forever!
Side note: Back to Sleep isn't being followed in many day cares. Beware!
Sorry, I can't figure how to tie this to BF :-) because it seems to be both
breast and bottle babies treated totally to back in our area. Sincerely,
Pat in SNJ
