This is a responst to Kathy Rubin who had a mother that wanted to pump and
put the EBM in a bottle. It has been my experience that in the majority of
times when a mother is adamant that she wants to do this, that she had been
sexually abused in the past. She doesn't want the baby or anyone touching
her breasts. I would directly ask the patient if she had a history of
sexual abuse, and this was always the case. All you can do is be
sympathitic, urge her to get some counseling, and support her efforts to
give EBM to her baby.
Hope this helps.
