Chris, some thing to look at woudl be Dr. Newman's page on problems and
solutions, www.breastfeedingonline.com, as the causes of sore nipples in an
older baby's mom are outlined. I would say what treatment did they do for
thrush, and how did they test for it? It is very difficult to confirm this
diagnosis or to rule it out, either. Is the mom pregnant?
I would suggest that you ask for a dermatology consult, but also, trying
the All Purpose nipple cream that Jack Newman MD recommends will help her.
I find that a lot of times, thrush is undertreated, and it then becomes
more severe and rampant. Kathleen
